Freestyle Dance Alchemy is an embodiment practice which centres dance and other mind-body modalities for an energizing, grounding and comprehensive experience of wellness. Fusing the class with breathwork, qi gong, embodied processing, mind-body coaching, authentic relating and sacred reflection while prioritizing safety and belonging creates a container where healing can happen.

Alchemy refers to our process of moving from the ordinary to the profoundly sacred by fusing several healing elements which are present in our Freestyle Dance Alchemy practice.

• We create a new dance experience when we acknowledge all dimensions of our movement - physical, mental, emotional, social, environmental and spiritual;
• we meld the joyful benefits of dance, play and community in a safe, exploratory container;
• we make embodiment more accessible and effective by merging somatic exploration such as breathwork, qigong and bodymind awareness
with our dance practice;
• we dance from intuitive sensation to empower our feminine expression and balance our energies;
• we integrate new movement with our dance through experimentation and the inspiration of others;
• and we approach all of it with an intention of free-spirited and uninhibited self-care;
• we open the potential for alchemizing our anger into power, our sadness into compassion, our fear into presence...

Freestyle Dance Alchemy for Women is a powerful recipe for supporting mind-body health.

My goal is to bring as many embodied experiences as possible to our practice, so we are more aware of what embodiment feels like and begin to live in the dynamism of an embodied state.

Though there are many elements of an ecstatic dance practice woven into our sessions, Freestyle Dance Alchemy has a slightly different intention. In Freestyle Dance Alchemy for Women, we will be considering various qualities of movement to expand the range and breadth of movement that we bring to our dance.

Through experimentation and alchemization, our embodied dance session becomes a playground for learning about ourselves. If we consciously examine the parallels between our embodiment in dance and in life, our practice can influence how we are showing up to our lives outside of dance and in our capacity for connecting with others in an authentic way.

While ecstatic dance offers beautiful opportunities to feel into our bodies in community, Freestyle Dance Alchemy for Women is a dance embodiment class and a chance to be guided in intentional dance.

The practice of embodied dance movement is an activity that lends itself perfectly to exploring our sensory, intuitive expression and cultivating our feminine energy. It holds us in presence magnifying the sensations in our body that align us with authentic feeling and our unique needs.

Many folks gain the same thing from sports, playing musical instruments, creating art or participating in extreme, high-stakes activity. But in all cases, there is a visceral ecstasy in the moment and also, an opportunity to gain insight that plays out in our lives beyond the experience.

Have you ever wondered why you are so drawn to dancing? It's a powerful conduit for our human-ness. And deep down, many of us have a strong desire to feel more human: raw, alive, wild and free.

FDAW is an excellent option for beginners or women who are easing back into exercise.

The intention of the class is to cultivate our ability to honour the needs of our body. We grow our awareness of the felt sense and respond to direct experience rather than thinking we 'should' be moving in a particular way or at a particular pace.

Every participant is encouraged to move in alignment with their energy, limitations etc. in the moment. There is inclusivity for women who want to really work up a sweat and also for women who are moving in a smaller and slower way that day.

Freestyle Dance Alchemy is primarily an embodiment class using dance as our main modality for embodied exploration.

I'm also a trauma-informed mind-body health practitioner, so this is an ideal space for women who are doing personal healing work around trauma, body issues and feeling safe being seen etc.
