Dance As Medicine
An 8-week Series
This is a weekly program of Freestyle Dance Alchemy for Women wanting a deeper exploration of embodied dance and how it can inform and benefit overall wellness and daily mind-body awareness. Expand the range and breadth of your dance expression through the process of experimenting with and alchemizing different aspects and extensions of movement. Cultivate your capacity to be in the sensation of your body and emotions bringing your feminine and masculine energies into better balance. Learn about yourself and use your dance playground as a catalyst for introducing different ways of being to your life outside of dance. Additional trauma-informed somatic modalities - such as breathwork, energy hygiene, journaling and mind-body health coaching - will be used to support participants in session.
If any of these feel true, this series is for you
• you have always danced and now as an adult, you are seeking a regular dance practice that aligns with you

• you want to dance for wellness, joy and community rather than for performing, choreography or fitness

• you have always loved to dance but feel self-conscious about dancing around others

• you understand the benefits of an embodiment practice but have struggled to find one that feels accessible

• you would like to dive deeper into mind-body health and dance is something that you've always enjoyed

• you know that a trauma-informed 'dancing as medicine' approach would meet a deep need for you now

• you are seeking a community of souls where you feel safe to be open, vulnerable and real as heck

• you are ready to stretch yourself with something new and at times mentally or emotionally challenging

• you want to lose yourself to dance like you used to but without the bars, the alcohol, the drugs or the scene

• you want to commit to a regular practice because you know you'll love it but have trouble showing up and prioritizing yourself if it's not a scheduled thing
this is THE embodiment practice that you have been seeking
Dance As Medicine
Movement Flow
Together each week, we will move through an intentional journey. Classes will weave in different facets of transformation to provide a comprehensive mind-body practice rooted in belonging, stretching, trusting and healing. Communal Bonding (belong) warm up and play, connect with each other, be present, get silly and spontaneous, activate the wild and raw human essence within Dance Exploration (stretch) be guided to experiment with different qualities and extensions of movement, step beyond your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual comfort zones (just enough to grow but still within your window of tolerance), embrace the infinite potential and creativity of movement Free Dance (trust) create your dance with conscious attention and mindful breath, grow your skill in recognizing sensation and embodying your feminine, practise listening and responding to the needs of your body, magnify and/or move emotional energy being held in the body, experience the bliss and ecstasy of your honest dance Integration (heal) reflect on the experience of the session, share, be seen and bear witness to others' authenticity, engage in a real talk application of movement themes to our broader human experience, bring awareness to survival adaptations which may be limiting you and impacting your beliefs and identity, notice shifts in your daily life between classes
Meet your Facilitator
My name is Natasha and I believe that dance is a perfect practice for anyone who wants to support their mind-body health. I founded Freestyle Dance Alchemy for Women from a desire to fuse our natural love of dance with powerful mind-body work and the result is a joyful embodiment practice which meets our need for connection, healing and play. These heart-led offerings are supported by certifications in trauma-informed Health and Life coaching, Embodied Processing Level 2, Dance Alchemy facilitation and YogaBody breath coaching, as well as several years of dance training in my youth. I see our universe as truly magical and I'm optimistic about our collective potential to live better one day - heal and live more human. I hope in my small way to be able to contribute something to that vision.

Here's what past participants have said...
I was transformed by my experience in Dance as Medicine. I have lived for years in my head and was very out of touch with my body or somatic expression. I learned many things... how to move uninhibited to the music, how to embrace my own dancing style, how to dance as if no one is present, how to express my emotions through dance and use dance as catharsis for trauma that I needed to release, how to use dance to access, listen to, and express the encouragement of my inner child, how to use dance to feel a sense of empowerment and learn greater self-knowledge, and how to dance in communion with other women in a collaborative and non-judgemental atmosphere.

Melissa
I am grateful for [Natasha], and for the rest of the participant's grace in providing me with the accommodation I needed to be able to participate in the classes. I really enjoyed the healing and growth mindset of everyone ... and to be in a safe space that enabled each of us to be vulnerable and dance freely. I was surprised to see how everyone in the group grew in their confidence during their dance experience and within the group conversations. I can't wait for the next round of classes to begin! I would definitely recommend Freestyle Dance Alchemy to anyone who wants to step outside of their comfort zone and heal themselves...💕

After speaking to Natasha..., I knew in my soul that it was the right group for me. Natasha is a skilled, competent, compassionate, and intuitive facilitator, and developed considerable safety for the women participants. She brought positive and dynamic energy to each session! It was a well organized and paced group, and during each session I felt welcomed, safe, and comfortable. I experienced a sense of belonging which is rare to find in many groups! In the group, my inner child felt safe to dance the way she wanted to dance, laugh, play and heal. I highly recommend this group to women who want to connect with their bodies, souls, and spirits!

Gursharan
I was looking for a space where I could dance joyfully and in ways that respected by body's needs - rather than learning choreography that has left me with exacerbated injuries in the past - and that allowed me to be in community with other dancers in a safe way. Natasha has built an incredible program that gently invites you to explore, to connect with your body and emotions, and gives you time to feel safe before opening up to connecting with the other dancers in the room. It was everything I was looking for as an adult entering a dance space.

Tessa
I'd been seeking out somatic practices to help me come back into my body and out of a functional freeze nervous system state. Sure enough, it's been exactly what I need — I feel more grounded, present and ALIVE with each and every session! My inner child has been able to play, to express herself, and feel more and more safe to be seen by the group of gorgeous souls. I'm surprised by how healing it has felt and we're only part way through the session. I can't wait for more! Natasha is such a beautiful person who gently leads and holds space for everyone in class. I'm so grateful for her and this class.

It's hard to put into words what it was like to experience the [classes] - you've got to try it to really understand! Natasha prioritized a culture of safety, community, and empowerment - she valued what each one of us brought to the room. It was freeing to dance, watching my inhibitions slowly disappear through the course of the [program] and to be able to share that with so many other women in the room! I highly recommend this to every woman out there who has been waiting for an opportunity to celebrate their authentic self!

The experience of being part of Freestyle Dance Alchemy led by Natasha is unlike any other experience. It’s a fantastic opportunity and arena to return to yourself and recreate a loving relationship with -and in- your body. Whether you’re a professional dancer or someone who doesn’t feel like dance is your thing, Natasha has created a movement experience where there is something for everyone. All levels are accepted and all bodies are celebrated. And a beautifully safe space is created under her guidance, where self expression and exploration come naturally.

Andrea
Healing yet fun --> This class is hard to put into words. It's like a mix between meditation and a really good therapy session but WAY more fun.

As someone who has done a lot of therapy, emotional/spiritual healing, and meditation, I've been blown away by the little insights and ah-ha moments I get from simply moving my body.

It forces me to become present with myself in a gentle, fun, and easy way.

Can't recommend this enough 💕

Natasha was born with this incredible ability/skill to bring people together, share and make us enjoy life and music more...These sessions really made you leave all troubles behind and enjoy the moment!! This is a space in which I feel not judged (you can actually dance like nobody is watching), feel supported and cared for. I learned that it is ok to receive...we do not have to always be the giver and that is ok! There is no guilt! We shared happiness, tears, love and most important our music and our moves!!! Thank you Natasha for creating a safe healing space!!! I will be back for more!

Sandy
If you ever wished to explore dance, yet were hesitant, let Natasha be your chosen guide. She will gently introduce you to different forms of movement, while also holding deep respect for who and where you are with dancing. You are guaranteed to explore new frontiers of movement without any pressure to perform. I am delighted to have discovered her class! .... her dance series are like gingerbread cookies in disguise.
